Week 4 - Understand the Problem Before Trying to Fix It !
The keys to winning the Culture War are many. They are at once distinct and interrelated. They are also very easy for anyone to do. All it takes is time and effort. They are:
UNDERSTAND:
God�s Word - Don't just rely on sermons or one hour a week in Church as the basis for KNOWING
God's word. Spend FACE TIME with God in prayer, reading His word, SEEKING
HIM and HIS WILL. Know His Word well enough to correct people who misuse or
misquote it.
American history - Seek out the truth. The old saying goes "don't believe none of what you hear
and half of what you see". That stands true here as well. Do the research. If you
don't know where we've come from, how will we ever know where we're going?
Also, it's imperitive to remember that FREEDOM ISN'T FREE ! It comes at GREAT
COSTS. It did for the Founding Fathers, It won't come easy for those who wish to
keep it.
The Constitution - It is freely available to all who wish to see it and with the internet, it is even more
accessable. But test what you find on the internet against what is FACTUALLY known
and can be proven. All too many sites have propaganda with little fact. That is why so
many images and links are available on this site to back up the claims that are made.
What the real problem is - Prepare, Prepare, Prepare. The problem is clear and simple. There is
only ONE AUTHOR of TRUTH, ONE AUTHOR of RIGHT and WRONG. I'm not Him,
and neither are you or anyone else walking around today. He is GOD and His instructions
can be found in the Bible.
EDUCATE:
Ourselves - We have to know what we speak of before we can help lead others.
Our children - We must prepare them to discern truth from fiction, fact from myth. If they don't learn
it from us, then who? and more, who's 'truth' will they be learning?
Our friends and neighbors - We're all to happy to share around the water cooler what happened on
the last episode of CSI or Friends, or American Idol, but what about the truth? Shouldn't
that be equally important?
Our elected representatives - "Government of the people, by the people and for the people"
Abraham Lincoln stated in the Gettysburg Address, but the quote actually comes from
John Wycliff an Englishman who was the first to translate the Bible into English.
Wycliffe was so persuaded of the Bible's importance in matters of law that he stated in
his dedication of his English Bible: ''This Bible is for the government of the people, by
the people, for the people.'' Our Constitution gives us the POWER and RESPONSIBILITY
to work and govern THROUGH our elected officials, not BY our elected officials.
Our teachers - They possibly need our help the most. As they spend more waking hours each day with
our children than we do, we must make work to make sure they become as empassioned
about the TRUTH as we do.
GET INVOLVED:
Vote - This is one of the most powerful tools we are given to govern ourselves. If a person is unwilling
to do this one simple thing, then they are forfeiting their right to complain that things are not
running the way they would like. But again, EDUCATE yourself on the candidates and
the issues. Don't settle for what you hear on TV or read in the paper. Don't just look at
a Republican site or a Democrats site. Compare the two of them, look for the truth based
on FACTS and HISTORY, not news reports and propaganda. - SEEK the TRUTH and do not
rest until you FIND the TRUTH.
Join the PTA - Again, this will give you more access to the adults who are spending the most waking time
with your children and who are the biggest AUTHORITY FIGURE in their little lives outside
your home.
Join a history club - That is a way to share what you have learned here and elsewhere through your own
research. Even better, create a club of your own for your friends who could benefit from
this knowledge and pass it on to others.
Write your representative - The cost of a stamp and a few minutes of your time. Is the world your
child will grow up in important enough to justify the cost and investment?
PRAY:
Pray, pray, pray, pray, pray!!! - Above all other things, appeal to the One who created all things and
and can truly make things change. Petition God in prayer, ask Him to change hearts, to
open eyes, to give strength and courage, to reveal truths. Pray, Pray, Pray.
