Martial Arts

On this page I will discus my martial history. The first martial arts school that I went to was called
Chung's Self - Defense in West Allis, Wisconsin. There I studied Tae Kwon Do. I was 15 or 16 years old when I started there. Not long after starting there I left to find a better school. The next martial arts school that I went to was called Rising Dragon Martial Arts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I still train there. I started training in Pai Lum Kung Fu. I started there on June 13, 2000. My instructor's name is SiGung Steven Jungmann who is the owner and chief instructor at Rising Dragon Martial Arts. When I started there SiGung Jungmann was a SiFu which means instructor. SiGung means master. These are the ranks in Pai Lum: SiDi means student which is white sash through green sash, SiHing means senior student which is brown sash through gray sash, SiFu means instructor which is 1st level black sash through 3rd level black sash, SiGung means master which is 4th level black sash, SiMo means wife of master of head of school, Si Tai Gung means grandmaster. Kung Fu is actually pronounced Gung Fu with a hard G but when it came to America a lot of people could not pronounce it so they changed it to Kung Fu. Rising Dragon Martial Arts practices the ancient arts of Pai Lum Kung Fu, Bok Leen Pai Kenpo, Pai Yung Tai Chi & San Shou Chinese Kickboxing. These arts combined are called Pai Lum Tao, Way Of The White Dragon. These disciplines provide realistic self- defense for the streets, health, and wellbeing, and beautiful art forms. Rising Dragon classes are diverse: there are adult classes and Little Dragon classes for children 12 and under, all studying in a professional, friendly and family oriented environment. For more information on Pai Lum click on this link. In July of 2005 I started training back in Tae Kwon Do at Bally Total Fitness Center in West Allis, Wisconsin. I am currently training in these two great disciplines. At Rising Dragon Martial Arts we have had some great students promoted to instructors. Student's Learn: Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Kenpo, San, Shou, Chinese Weapons, Aikido, Chin Na, Chi Kung, Jujitsu and more. Benefits Include: Self Defense and Safety, Improved Health and Fitness, Confidence and Discipline, Respect for Others & Oneself, New Friends & Activities. I am a member of The White Dragon Warrior Society (which is martial arts). If you would like more information on Pai Lum Kung, Bok Leen Pai Kenpo, Pai Yung Tai Chi, or San Shou Chinese Kickboxing, please contact SiGung Steve Jungmann at [email protected] or at his website Rising Dragon Martial Arts.

About The Teachers & Students:

Si Jo Founder Pai Po Fong

Po Fong left his home near a southern Shaolin Temple outside of Singapore and traveled to Hawaii in 1924 with the dream of being able to give his family a better life by using his vast martial arts knowledge. Po Fong later adopted a Hawaiian name, Po Pai. Kane Pai, the son of Po Pai, was one of six children and had a son, Daniel Kane Pai, born in Kamuela, Hawaii. Grandmaster Po Pai taught his grandson the family martial art style which contained mainly elements of the crane and dragon movements as well as other animal styles which were later contained within a larger martial arts system called Pai Lum. His grandmother was a master of the white crane system and his father was a Judo expert. During this time of training, it is said that Po Pai sent his grandson to the White Lotus Monastery, Byakurenji, on the northern coast of Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, to study Kobayashi - ryu karate - do, White Lotus Kenpo and he received his black belt.

Great Grandmaster Daniel Kane Pai

Great Grandmaster Daniel Kane Pai was called by Inside Kung Fu Magazine, "an American Kung Fu legend" Grandmaster Pai taught such notables as Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali. Grandmaster Daniel Kane Pai was born April 04, 1930 in Kameulai, Hawaii. He lived the last 17 years of his life in Florida. He passed away in 1993 in the Dominican Republic. Per his request he was laid to rest in his beloved Hawaii. During his 63 year journey on Earth be built a martial arts legacy throughout North America leaving a few SiGung's and several SiFu's to carry on the teachings of the Pai Lum Tao. A truly controversial figure, Grandmaster Pai did it his way, from the rough streets of Hawaii to forming the largest Kung Fu system in North America during the 1960's and the 1970's. There was no doubt of his command of Pai Lum Tao Martial Arts. He taught a rough and tough type of training, for which the Hawaiian Islands are well known for. A young Daniel began his training with family members in Hawaii in the disciplines of Kung Fu, Kenpo, and Jujitsu. His grandfather Pai Po Fong taught him 'The Pai Family' martial arts which contained mainly elements of Dragon and crane. After the mastery of Dragon and Crane the Tiger, Leopard, and Snake were introduces to the young practitioner. During his early Years of training Pai Po Fong sent Daniel to study and learn stern discipline from the teachers of The White Lotus Monastery 'Byakurenji' on the north coast of Okinawa. Pai Po Fong hoped that this would settle the wild ways of young Daniel. That it did and Daniel then began to merge his knowledge of martial arts and philosophies into what began to be known as Pai Lum Tao 'Way Of The White Dragon'. Throughout Great Grandmaster Pai's life he was a teacher of martial arts, a graduate of The Chicago Medical College "PH.D", a bodyguard, stunt coordinator, and cowboy at The Parker Ranch with Ed Parker, Philosopher, biker, and a decorated Korean War Veteran. These are the ranks he attained: 10th level Pai Te Lung Chuan Fa - Pai Lum, 8th level White Lotus Kenpo, 5th level Aikido, & 5th level Jui Jitsu.

The History Of Pai Lum Tao

History teaches us where we came from and helps us understand who we are today, and where we are going tomorrow. The following is a short synopsis of Pai Lum Tao history.

History of Martial Arts

Pai Lum history begins with the history of Chinese fighting arts, which are surrounded by much mystery and controversy. It is generally believed that monks of Shaolin Ssu popularized it.

The teachings of Pai Lum Tao tell us that the Kung Fu - Chuan Fa- Kenpo practiced by the monks of Shaolin Ssu was not just a martial art but a way of life held in the highest level of standards. The daily routines were practiced to unify the energies of body and mind. Kung Fu was not invented by monks as a means of self defense, it was a form of self preservation through synchronized exercise routines such as Shi Pa Lo Han Sho. Kung Fu eventually became a balance of physical exercise, spiritual training, and a time tested method for one's combative defense for self and others. It became famous as Shaolin Chuan.

With the banning of weapons in China by the government the practice of this lethal fighting system grew in demand. It quickly spread through out China on various names.

In A.D. 574 the Shaolin temple was destroyed by armies of Emporer Wu Ti, it was rebuilt during the Sui Dynasty (586 - 618). The result was underground practice and spread of Shaolin Chuan through out China. Kung Fu would continue to be tested during the many uprisings against suppression of the Mongol, Ming and Manchu Dynasties.

Founder of Pai Lum Tao

Po Fong was such a practitioner of a southern Shaolin Temple outside of Singapore. In 1924 he traveled to Hawaii with the dream of being able to give his family a better life using his vast martial arts knowledge. He later adopted the name Po Pai. He passed his teachings on to his grandson, Daniel K. Pai. His grandmother passed on to Daniel the white crane.

The Great Grandmaster

As a young boy, his grandfather sent Daniel K Pai to the White Lotus Monastery in Okinawa. After World War II, Daniel Pai went to work on the Parker Ranch on "the Big Island". During this time Daniel Pai and Ed Parker would work and train together. In the 1960's Pai brought his martial arts to the mainland and they spread across the nation. By the early seventies he had fifty plus Pai Lum and Fire Dragon schools in North America.

Grandmaster Glenn Wilson

Grandmaster Wilson leads Rising Dragon students in the Katana Seven Ways of Cutting back in 1995.

In 1974 the Gong Chuan Yuen Chuan Fa Federation was established. SiFu Glenn Wilson was assigned the duties as director and has served faithfully ever since. In 1993 the "White Dragon Warrior Society" was co-founded by Great Grandmaster Pai and Si Gung (senior master) Glenn C. Wilson. He has served with distinction and honor as family head and director ever since.

After the passing of Great Grandmaster Daniel K. Pai in the Dominican Republic in 1993, the U.S. Chinese Kuoshu Federation and the governing board in Taiwan recognized Senior Master Glenn Wilson, the 27 year disciple of Grandmaster Pai, to be the new Grandmaster of Pai Lum Tao.

Today the White Dragon Warrior Society continues to spread the Pai Lum Tao White Dragon Way under the leadership of Grandmaster Glenn C. Wilson. He teaches SiFu's (instructors) all across the nation and the world.

SiDi Joseph Suchorski is part of the White Dragon Warrior Society and spread Pai Lum Tao in Wisconsin.
