Welcome to my blog. Here are my thoughts on everything.
Entry For Friday, May 30, 2008, Kung Fu

I had a really great time in my kung fu class last night. My new form for Orange Sash is coming along nice. I have some corrections to make on my form but it will come with practice over and over again.

After my kung fu class, we had a special training class in weapons using a staff. I really enjoyed learning how to use a staff.

Getting into martial arts was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Choosing Pai Lum Tao was an even smarter decision that I made. I have tried going back to studying Tae Kwon Do after a couple of years in Pai Lum and I have to say that Tae Kwon Do is really easy for me to do. My first night back in Tae Kwon Do, I got my red tip for kicking. That is how easy it was for me. My third night in Tae Kwon Do, I got my yellow tip. I am not saying that I will never go back to studying Tae Kwon Do; I am saying that right now I am going to concentrate on studying Pai Lum Tao.

After I earn my Black Sash in Kung Fu, I am going to pick up Bok Leen Pai Kenpo. That is my goal. Maybe later around that time I will start studying Tae Kwon Do again. I have trained in a couple of different martial arts such as Tae Kwon Do, Karate, San Shou, and of course my primary martial arts Kung Fu. When I was a kid I learned Tae Kwon Do and Karate from instructional videos from the library. Later on my first martial arts school that I went to was for Tae Kwon Do. I went there for about a month. I could not afford what they were charging for a whole year and they also required you to sign a contract. Those lessons there were introductory lessons.

Then I found Rising Dragon Martial Arts. I had just moved into the area on 35th & Orchard at that time. In the first week that I lived there on that block I saw that there was a martial arts school less then a half of block from me. I called Rising Dragon Martial Arts and talked with Si Gung Steve Jungmann who was a SiFu at that time. He invited me to come down and watch a class and see how I liked it. I really liked the class, the school, and the instructors and students. I signed up right away that day after I watched that class.

Little did I know at that time was that Si Gung Jungmann would not only become my instructor but that he would become one of my best friends and that I would spend the next 8 years studying there.

At Rising Dragon Martial Arts it is more then martial arts that you learn. You make all kinds of friends and learn all different things including martial arts. A lot of the students and instructors there are my friends. SiMo Jungmann is another one of my best friends.

I told Si Gung Jungmann last night that I would love to win the lottery and spend the rest of my life studying martial arts. Martial Arts can teach a person a lot of things not just self defense. No matter where I go or whatever I do in life, Pai Lum Tao will always be apart of me. I am a Dragon Martial Artist. I will always be a Dragon Martial Artist.

I am sitting here relaxing, listening to Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon Soundtrack as well as John Lennon and the songs on my Playlist on my MySpace page.

I like John Lennon because he believed in peace not war. We train to defend ourselves but we hope for peace first. If you show respect to other people, most of the time you will get respect back and fights can be avoided. It's like one of our lessons "Seek Peace Always, But If The Soul Is Threatened, Then Let The Soul Become A Warrior".
