Entry For Sunday, April 20, 2008 Russia Shuts Down Nuclear Reactor Similar To The Chernobyl Reactor

I was reading this article about Russia Shutting Down A Plutonium Producing Nuclear Reactor Similar To The Chernobyl Reactor. We all know the story of what happened with Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor Incident back in 1986 which caused a nuclear disaster in the Ukraine. The effects of the Chernobyl disaster are still being felt. Babies are still being born with side affects and deformities due to Nuclear Radiation that is still in the area. I have been researching the Chernobyl incident for a long time now.

According to the article, is states in the last line of the article that "The U.S. has already closed all 14 of it's plutonium reactors". I don't know if I believe that because when it comes to combat or competing with other countries, you always want to be ready in case of war or some incident that may rise with that country. I don't believe that The U.S. has shut down all of their Nuclear Plutonium Reactors. And by the way, how do we actually know that the U.S. has only 14 Nuclear Plutonium Reactors? They may have more. In fact I am counting on it.

One of the things that I have learned when I was in college taking Private Investigation and other investigator courses is to always research and investigate the whole facts. Maybe I am wrong but remember the U.S. Government is very slick and convincing. I love my country but you have to look at the whole truth not just part of it.

"The reactors were built in secret in the 1960's in the arms race with the U.S.. An agreement was reached in March 2003 between the U.S. and Russia in which Washington committed $926 million to help build the fossil fuel plants. One in Seversk is almost completed. Nuclear reactors in Russia have been plagued by a history of glitches that have raised safety concerns. Just weeks before its closure, the reactor was temporarily deactivated due to a power failure. No leaks were detected, however. A second reactor, also in Seversk, is expected to be shut down in June while a third reactor, in the central Siberian town of Zheleznogorsk, is expected to be shuttered at the end of 2009".
