In today's modern world, males are not allowed to wear skirts like females are. This is blatant discrimination, but nothing has been done to combat it. The reasons are varied, but this section of the website will explain why males should be allowed to wear skirts and why discrimination against males is wrong.
At one point in history, males lost the right to wear skirts. For virtually all of history, males wore clothing that resembled a modern-day skirt or dress, albeit under the name of robe, tunic, etc. It is only within the past few centuries that males have regularly worn pants. So it is not the fact that it is a dress or skirt, but rather the era, which matters if wearing a skirt is acceptable. My goal is to make a new era where males wearing skirts is acceptable.
A new era was created about half a century ago when females gained the right to wear pants. So creating a new era is possible. However, the method of creating a new era will not be discussed on this page. To find out how we can win this right, click here. The rest of this page will be devoted to why males should be allowed to wear skirts.
Males should be allowed to wear skirts for the simple fact that females are allowed to wear both pants and skirts while males are only allowed to wear pants. Like I said above, that is blatant discrimination. However, the reason why males do not have the right is because the males do not fight for skirts the way females fought for pants. It is all part of a simple superior-inferior complex. In the past there used to be a severe belief that males were superior to females. As a result, women felt that they needed to be liberated and decided that to prove they were just as good as any male, wore pants to show that they mattered also. However, if a male were to wear skirts, that would be showing that he wished to dress like the weaker side. So subconsciously, people believed that a woman wearing pants was her way of showing her strength and lack of inferiority, while a male wearing a skirt meant that he was degrading himself to the level of the inferior half. Because of this, many males who would like to be able to wear skirts kept quiet and said nothing for fear of being looked down upon.
There are a few other reasons men don't wear skirts and speak out. One common myth about men wearing skirts is that they must be gay. This is completely false since most studies about this topic reveal that the majority of men who wear skirts are actually straight. Still, most men are afraid that some will assume that they are gay so they don't wear skirts.
Another common myth is that men who wear skirts must want to be women. This is far from being true. Back when women battled for pants, it is highly unlikely that all of them wanted to be men just cause they chose to wear pants. Putting on a skirt does not turn a man into a woman. He is still a man. When women put on pants, they do not suddenly become men. They are still women, just in pants. Likewise, a man who puts on a skirt should not be assumed to be a wannabe woman. Although a few men wish to become women, the majority do not, and are perfectly happy being male.
