Joe Barton
Joe Barton is a nationally known motivational and banquet speaker.  His two primary presentations are "The Courage to Care" and "Manners and Civility." He also trains people in everything from communication techniques to stress management to group dynamics.

The author thinks the main problem in organizations today is the failure to simply care about our coworkers and the products we produce.  It's not the lack of ideas, curriculum, policy, or plans.  We have plenty of those.  It's that people don't care enough about what is vital.  Integrity, common sense, and good manners have seemingly gone out of style.  It is time we brought them back.

Mr. Barton is a storyteller.  His real-life examples and just good stories explain things so basic and simple we often fail to see them.  He tells about people who display the courage to care, even when it is unpopular or painful.  His stories teach.  They also make this book a fun and provocative read.

The author has been a probation officer, college instuructor, house painter, mental health counselor, prison counselor, and little leage baseball coach.
This little book has struck a chord.  It reminds us of what we have known, what we should have known, and what we need to know.  It shows how to have the courage to change positive values and beliefs into actions.
