What is Freedom?
Everyone seems to clamor for freedom...We all want it but do we give any  thought to what real freedom is?  We imagine never having to be accountable to anyone or anything...to always having our own way or doing whatever it is we wish and desire, to never answer to another and to be free from all that holds us back.  In Christian circles freedom can be equated with victory over all our enemies, spiritual and otherwise.  To walk in all the power and provision of the risen Lord, is to Christians, the ultimate of freedom.  No sickness, sin, or death are the pinacles of spirituality and freedom.  Yet, is all this what it really means to be free?  What about one's motives for freedom?  What about our freedoms encrouching on the freedoms of others and our brothers and sisters in Christ?  What about self sacificial service and the laying down of ones life for another?  Freedom implies a certain aspect of control and the ability to make judgements and decisions based upon our own welfare and wishes.  We don't desire bondage, so we seek freedom from all that entangles us.  We hate being the puppet of another so we desire deliverance from oppressing spiritual forces.  Anything and everything to obtain our much desired freedom.  Is this what the Christian life is all about, or are we missing something?  What does the Scriptures have to say about true freedom and how to achieve it, if indeed it is something to achieve?  Let us take the journey together and see what's in store for us ahead.  Let us find the true freedom that can only come by losing and death, two unpopular words today, but the source of all true freedom.  Let the journey into victory begin!
