Damn.... almost makes me wish I had liked them at some point so I could make a dramatic shift over to hating them. And they got ALOT of free TV pub on this audition thing, too. It would be real nice to think that somehow this will come back and bite 'em in the ass.

I've never really liked Limp Bisquick, but this is the lowest move anyone could make. That soulless little fuck is gonna get his someday in a REALLY big way. Someone's gonna throw a couple of caps in his ass.
At which GC did this happen? I'm curious to know if similar events happened at other "auditions".

They got media coverage from four TV stations and two radio stations here that day, earlier in the day, when they were praising them for doing such a good thing to help support music in the area. I called up the TV stations later that night to report on what happened. One of them actually called me back. They did an interview with the radio and took down some information from me, too. Then they never aired it.
Looks like this gets to continue for the next week or two at a bunch of other cities now.

This is a pretty disturbing story, and yet I can honestly say that not a single word surprised me. That whole GC Auditions stunt is just so lame, and yet, as you said, people will see it as their chance at the bigtime, and will inevitably sign anything just to make sure things go smoothly. Pretty sad when you're as rich as this guy is, yet he still feels the need to screw people over.

I never could stand Durst. I think something like this will probably kill Bizkit. He's the "other" dark side of a rocker-- not just an egotistical prick, but some sort of business predator climbing his way to the top over the bodies of those he's backstabbed.

Lamb Biscuit as band was way better than their ass frontman. Bass guitarist was very good, guitarist and the other guy too. Fart Wurst is great manager, I know, but robber and horrible singer too!

I honestly don't remember anything saying that we couldn't discuss the audition, though I really wish there was a photocopier there. If so, I'd post the entire contract up.

Yes, and now the world is more aware of one of them. If I knew this was what was really going on, I would have told others BEFORE it happened. Half of the people out there either hated Limp Bizkit or hadn't even heard of them. They were just going because it was a place to bring their demo and/or to try out for a band that people said were cool. Ignorance is bliss.

That's grim, man. But it doesn't surprise me.
Now check this out. See if I'm right in 6 months:
Remember, Durst is a music exec first and a band leader second. Limp Bizkit was actually formed as a marketing machine to appeal to a specific market--young white males who like nu-metal (or whatever it's called).
Fred didn't originate the concept of the band as marketing tool--it goes back to the Monkees. Later came New Kids on the Block. N Sync. Menudo (from Mexico, I think). But Durst was the first one to appeal to this market. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the tunes showed up on Bizkit records. But here's something else:
I also wouldn't be surprised if Durst uses the auditions to create a "new" band (or several) that appeals to the same demographic as Limp Bizkit. And guess what? That band will be huge, because all its songs WILL HAVE BEEN WRITTEN BY THE EXACT MARKET THEY WILL BE TARGETING!!!!
Think about it: Thousands of (mostly) young white males not only "told" (played) Durst exactly the kind of music they prefer, but also GAVE them that music free of charge. With this kind of "market research" Bizkit stands a better chance of their next album selling big, PLUS creating a brand new multi-platinum selling band with very little effort and risk.
It's awful. But if you have no integrity, no ethics, and no love of humankind (other than as sources of income), it's also damn smart.
I despise people like that. If what you say is indeed true, I'd suggest that ALL musicians boycott not only Limp Bizkit, but any group that signs with Durst's label.

This is a big-ass, city, BTW.
I know a friend who went to the audition, and he didn't make it far enough to jam with the band. Now with all of the crap that I have read about the Virgina Beach auditions, I am sooooo happy that he didn't make it. I can't believe that a band would do that to people, and I am trying to make this as popular as I can so that people steer away from the band.
