Der Essener Energiekonzern RWE
will sich fünf Jahre nach seinem Einstieg in das Wassergeschäft wieder zum
größten Teil von dieser Sparte trennen und sich auf das Strom- und Gasgeschäft
konzentrieren. Bis Ende 2007 solle die Trennung von dem Geschäftsfeld Wasser in
Nordamerika und Großbritannien vollzogen sein ... RWE begründet die geplante
Abtrennung des Wassergeschäfts mit den geringen Synergien zwischen den
nordamerikanischen und britischen Wassergeschäft einerseits sowie der
Wasserversorgung und den Strom- und Gasaktivitäten andererseits ...

severe and urgent than any other country in the world." Speaking at the
first International Conference for China Urban Water Development Strategies …

developed countries, which have paid heavy costs in tackling environmental
pollution … said the government is carrying out a reform in the urban water

pledged to continue supporting Kenya's water resources and environmental
management programs. The bank's country director to Kenya Collins Bruce said
the Bretton Wood institution would spend 130 million US dollars to fund water
reforms and natural resource management in the east African nation … said water

multilateral sectoral in nature and has far reaching implications on the
economic development and poverty reduction efforts, as well as on sustainable

centres

water-related centres under the auspices of UNESCO: the International Centre
for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) in Tsukuba, Japan; the IHP-HELP
Centre for Water Law, Policy and Science in Dundee, United Kingdom; the
Regional Water Centre for Arid and Semi-arid Zones of Latin America and the
Caribbean (CAZALAC) in La Serena, Chile; and the European Regional Centre for

25 Oct 2005 One percent of the world's arms budget should be channelled into providing
access to drinking water in the most parched corners of the planet, the
campaigning widow of former French President Francois Mitterrand said. Danielle
Mitterand, whose foundation France Libertes launched an access to drinking
water campaign … "The world's arms budget is $1,000 billion annually … We
are asking that one percent of this budget be used each year for 15 years to
finalise a real programme of access to fresh water in those places where the
infrastructure is insufficient" … France is home to three of the world's
four biggest private water management companies, Suez , Veolia and Saur, which are expanding rapidly around
the planet. But Mitterrand said water was no one's property and should not be
treated as merchandise …
