Scientists
Say Risk of Water Wars Rising
Aug
20, 2004 STOCKHOLM - The risk of wars being fought over water is rising because
of explosive global population growth and widespread complacency, scientists
said on Friday. "We have had oil wars," said Professor William
Mitsch. "That's happened in our lifetime. Water wars are possible."
Scientists at the World Water Week conference which began on Sunday in
Stockholm said that ignorance and complacency were widespread in wealthier
countries

Wasser-Liberalisierung bleibt ohne Effekt
Privatisierungen und Zusammenschlsse von
Wasserversorgern bringen - zumindest bei lndlichen Unternehmen - kaum
Effizienzgewinne.
23.08.2004 - In die Trinkwasserversorgung flieen gigantische
Betrge.
strkeren Wettbewerb...

Asian
peoples network for water to face river linking

a call for the creation of a South Asian network of people for water to prevent
large intervention on rivers that risk the integrity of river basins on which
life, livelihood, culture and civilization depend. The consultation attended by
experts and activists from India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan also called
for the development of a people's database on the rivers of the region to deal
with the problems of secrecy that shroud mega projects like river linking
promoted by the immediate past BJP-led government in India

Israel and
Palestine must resolve the water problem together
August 19, 2004 Water issues can impact the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict in various ways. On the one hand the issue of
allocation and control of water resources can be a source of direct conflict
and dispute. On the other, due to the shared nature of the resource, which
leads to the need for joint management and protection of water resources from
pollution, there is a strong need for cooperation
