surroundings  many restaurants or private eating places "Paladares", Museums, Churches of
various denominations, lively Night entertainment (Dance), Concert halls, Cultural centers,

while you watch the artisans creating their works.

around.

In this area you will also find the headquarters of several prominent Cuban associations
such as UNEAC (National Union of Writers and Artists from Cuba), The Association of Jurists,
the Federation of Radio Amateurs of  Cuba, The association of Economists, the Ornitológica
Association and many others..

In old Santiago the streets have often TWO names, where  the older ones are usually
better known. Here are some of the names, handy when  you are asking for directions:

Gastronomical service not available yet but is planned for  the near future, there are plenty of  restaurants nearby, orange juice  and coffee in the morning are on the house.

You also don't have to worry about power outages, this area has first priority and it only
occurs in extremely rare instances. Use of the telephone for local calls is available such as calls for a taxi etc.; for calls outside Cuba, you can use "collect" reverse charges. (Onlyfor countries that
have an agreement in place with Cuba). If you don't know, just ask your hosts and we'll find a
way to cater to your wishes, we aim to make your stay the most pleasant possible.
In case you cannot arrange accommodation beforehand, don't worry, we'll find
equivalent accomodation nearby for you without any remuneration.

A word of warning: Be firm, by always insisting on directions straight to OUR address. Taxi
drivers and the like, demand  a commission if a tourist is delivered to a particular address, where he/she
stays, of course that increases your price. So don't believe anything you are told, just come to our house first
and we will arrange everything  from there.

Note: The writer of this web page is a Canadian, who has been numerous times in Santiago and
has many friends and acquaintances there. I know Raymundo personally,  his family  and his
house in the heart of Santiago and have visited him.The house and the rooms are impeccable. He
is both an  International Radio Amateur and an electrical Engineer like myself and he speaks
English sufficiently. As such,  I can wholeheartedly  recommend his place; and if you want to
have my further opinion/advice feel, free to email me at: [email protected] (That is, when I
am not in Cuba).
