This immaculately kept,
picturesque, licenced "Lodging House" is situated on the opposite
side of the park on which the massive hotel "Santiago de Cuba" is situated.
As such, it is close to all tourist activities, yet far enough removed
for some quiet reflection. It is truly a family environment, since Inalvis
has just one room in the house to rent. In true Cuban attitude -mi
Casa es su Casa- my house is yours, is her motto during your
stay. Try not to abuse the privilege.
Behind her house is a nicely
kept patio.
Inalvis works at the local Radio Station as a "Periodista" (journalist), her husband works for Prensa Latina and they both work long hours. Needless to say, that they are well educated and known in their community. If you want to know something about Santiago, just ask them, you get an excellent education.
The guest room is well appointed, with the adjacent bathroom used only for guests, when they are there. The family has another one on the side of the house.
Inalvis will bend over backwards to cater to your every wish and she has good help from a relative, who does the general housework. The living room and salon have Television, a VCR and a Sound system. Bring some of your favourite "CD's", they will appreciate it. Inalvis works in the program research department and has access to the music library of the radiostation.
If you have exhausted all the interests of the local area, shift over to the City center, it is not too far. Easily reached, if you like to walk, take a bycicle-cab or a taxi, the distance about 3 Km.
Food is available nearby. At the cafeteria of the "Las Americas" hotel, at the "Cubalse" dollar store or at the "Panaderia" on nearby "Garzon" and some fruits with Cuban l.currency at the local market. Of course, Cuban coffee is always served by Inalvis, but don't forget to buy her the odd time, the accompanying cookies at the nearby Hotel Santiago shop. Sometimes Inalvis has some delicious fruits to share with you.
