The Fair- by Joe Clune

Lights flash, wheels turn, hawkers sell their wares.
Is there anyplace else quite like the fair?
Children running to and fro laughing
asking parents "can we have more taffy?"

Bells ring, darts fly, carneys guess your weight.
Maybe a teller can reveal your fate!
Couples stroll down the crowded midway,
holding hands, enjoying the playful day.

Boothes close, cars leave, rides are taken down.
Time to move on to another small town!
Couples move on, children fight back tears
parents explain "It will be back next year!"
