Ballymacnab 2 09 0 11 Madden
This was a bruising incident packed encounter which Madden can feel unlucky not to come away without at least share of the points. A sending off, a host of injuries, and some piss poor refereeing were the odds that Madden faced in this game. After a tough first half in which Johnnny Woods had to retire with an injured hand, Madden went in at the break 7 - 5 in front. Signs Cambell replaced Johnny Woods marking a return to action after a long layoff through injury. So long in fact he forgot that the numbers are usually worn on the back of the jersey and not the front.
Within minutes of the restart Madden found themselves up against it when Joe Mallon was red carded. A goal for Ballymacnab stretched their lead shortly afterwards and with Johnny Woods sidlined and playing with 14 men things were looking bad for the Raparees. With the odds stacked against them Madden fought back to within two points when the Nab were awarded a penalty. This was brilliantly saved by Ricky Greene and boosted Madden to go within a point of Ballymacnab. Johnny Woods reentered the fray with the hand hanging off him as the Nab stretched thier lead to two points. Some dangerous long balls into Pat Mc Kenna were unlucky not to result in a goal and at this stage in the game Madden looked in the acendency and were looking likely to overturn the defeceit. Then disaster struck when an uncharacteristic mistake from from Geard Grimley lead to a Brian Mc Cone goal which was followed up by a furthur point for Ballymcnab left Madden with too much to do with little time remaining. It was also around this time that Shane Mc Elvanna was sidelined through injury.
Shane Mc Kenna played his normal game.
