Madden 1 - 12 0 - 04 St. Pauls
Madden enjoyed an impressive victory over a poor St. Pauls side on Saturday evening. The game was nip and tuck in the opening quarter with Madden enjoying a lot of possession but not making it count on the scoreboard. Impressive play from Joe Feeney and Paul O'Reilly left Madden 5 points up at the break. Madden came out in the second half with a renewed intensity and went on to punish St. Pauls who managed only a single point in the second half. Move of the match came when Johnny Woods ripped open the Saint's defence and unselfishly passed to Joe Mallon who failed to miss from half a yard out. Shortly afterwards Colm Cambell delivered a telling 20 yard pass from out on the sideline to Pat Mc Kenna who had been doing a lot of running around and was grateful for some water at that time. Damien Mc Kenna's use of the ball was a joy to watch before and after the match, his passes accurate if not always to a red jersey. St. Paul's had a few goal efforts towards the end of the game which were snuffed out well by Paddy Woods and the Madden defence. This victory sets Madden up well for the local derby with Ballymcnab next week.
Shane Mc Kenna was shite. |
