Shane O'Neills vs Madden One of the most disgraceful refereeing performances I have ever witnessed in 24 years of watching GAA. This ref made Michael Collins look like a top official. It hard to understand why he lent towards Shane O'Neills so much, especially whenever you consider that he lives in the far off distant parish of Silverbridge which is about 25 mins from Camlough or 15 mins across the fields. With both Madden midfielders carrying injuries and the ref playing for O'Neills Madden were up against it. Shane Mc Elvenna found himself one on one with the keeper but the ref was having none of this adjudging him to have picked the ball off the ground. The O'Neills Manager made lots of useful comments towards the Madden bench. Noting a high tackle on a Madden defender he said " Come on its not basketball" He was right. Tony Mc Elvenna didn't think it was basketball anyways. Al Pachino fired the Madden boys up at half time which was when the ref really came into his own. If somebody had been counting the number of frees i think it would have been 15 4 to O'Neills in the second half. Joe Mallon scored point of the game rising high to claim a ball and then turning and splitting the posts........There ye are Joe I mentioned you , and Ive mentioned you before anyways I dont know what you were yapping about. The final whistle went and Shins Campell decided it was time this referee knew what he thought of his performance. I failed to get a quote from Colm but it went along the lines of You................(very bad).........referee...........**** @#!* """"" ( I am very disapointed with your performance) . Whatever he said he was getting a red card until he apoligised which would have left Wishe unavailable for Championship action. |
