A huge crowd assembled at the Middletown venue for this derby game. The standard of football was surprisingly good taking into account that both sides had a Shane Mc Kenna. The first half was a tense affair with Madden dominating possession but failing to make a suitable impression on the scoreboard. A long hopeful ball into the box ended up in the Middletown net which gave Madden the boost they needed to go in at half time with their tails up. The second half continued in the same vain, Middletown had a few efforts on goal which were saved and the danger man for them Carville was causing problems for the Madden defense. The last few minutes were full of drama as Madden went into a one point lead with a few minutes remaining. A shamozzle involving Joe Feeney and Sheridan lead to red cards for both Sheridan and Soggy Mc Gran on the Middletown side. The ref then awarded Middletown a handy free for Godknowswhat after Damy dispossesed his man. This was sent high into midfield brought down by Mc Clatchy and sent over the bar to level the match.
