This was a tense enthralling encounter played at Raparee park last Wednesday evening. Madden got their noses in front early on and worked hard to maintain the lead throughout the game. A rejuvinated Beavis Devlin rattled the net ten mins in with an enphatic strike from a narrow angle. Paddy Woods pointed a great long range effort from the ground showing his use in attack as well as defense.Two time Ulster Interfirms winner Vincent Mc Cusker got through a lot of hard work in the first half busting through the Granemore blanket defense and then switching position with Jimmy Moore to confuse the opposition and not to recover breath from being banjaxed as some may have thought. Two points separated the sides at the break.
Madden had to withstand an onslought of pressure in the second half as Granemore set out to turn around the deficiet early on. Excellent work from all members of the Madden defence maintained the lead for the Raparees. Declan Mc Elvanna weighed in with another man of the match performance. In attack Beavis Devlin pointed all frees within range. Two times Ulster interfirms winner Vincent Mc Cusker blasted wide from 2 yards.
