| I can still recall the first time I heard the New Kids. I was a little over 10 years old and already a music addict. I listened to everything. Country music and Oldies were about the only thing allowed in my house growing up. I remember being in the store with my mom and seeing a tape cassette five boys I thought were so cute on the case cover. I begged my mom to let me have it and she gave in with a little grumbling. When I listened to "Popcicle" and my favorite off the album (Treat Me Right," I knew I'd be a fan for life. I created this page with the bare essential info on my five fav guys. | New Kids on The Block were brought together by Maurice Starr in 1984. Starr was also responsible for New Edition in 1983. They released their first album, New Kids On The Block, in April of 1986. Though the album did poorly, Columbia Records kept them on board to release their sophmore album, Hangin' Tough. The album went #1 in 1989. New Kids became an international phenomenon and their fans were known as Blockheads. Those of us diehard Blockheads still listen for the latest news on each of the members. |
