The Researched Essay

Goals and Formal Requirements:
Research in and of itself is not a goal but a tool for accomplishing the goals of an existing paper. One can use research to explore the background of character or region, find statistics and evidence to support a point, develop the historical or cultural context of an event or idea, develop a philosophical context for a concept, present the ideas of others, etc.
Your researched paper should adhere to the guidelines of your topic as stated in assignment #4.
The formal requirements are that the paper must be 6-8 pages in length, have a works cited page with at least 6-8 sources of at least 3 different types of sources (periodical, book, internet, interview,etc.) and use parenthetical notation in accordance with MLA format.
Note 1.
This essay should thoroughly integrate the sources withing the structure of the essay. They should not feel applied and they should not take over your argument or thesis. They should contribute to what you are saying or develop context for it.
