The BIO of Joel Lee
JOEL LEE is an electric bassist from CT that has performed for many different bands in the Connecticut, NYC, and NY capitol regions. His style varies as he tries to get as much diversity out of the instrument using slapping, two-handed tapping, harmonics, and many other techniques. Joel is a very solid studio musician, and he is hired by many local artists for recordings. He is also a great live performer, showing his talent on the instrument as well as adding to the visual performance. Joel can hold down the groove and, in addition to being an accomplished solist on the electric bass. Joel also plays upright bass in jazz combos and big bands.
In addition to being a highly accomplished bassist, Joel is now exploring a new path as he occasionally assumes the role of a vocalist in his band, "FRAYD." He has won local karaoke contests and can sometimes be found hosting a local karaoke show in the Greater Waterbury area.
Joel teaches electric bass privately. Many of his students have gone on to major in music, perform locally, and some of his high school students have performed in the CT and NY Allstate jazz band.
"By 9pm the room was packed with musicians and partyers and it stayed that way until 1am. Featured Artist JOEL LEE would be the main attraction of the evening. JOEL makes his annual holiday visit to KSOMS and this one was the BEST! JL performs an incredible solo act on his bass guitar. The set features holiday stands, original material and is awe inspiring. He taps, slaps and smacks the bass until you'd swear there were three people playing at the same time. Amazing! By the end of Joel's set which had a cool version of the "Peanuts" theme along with a "Silent Night", "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear", "Silver Bells", "Little Drummer Boy" medley, the audience was on their feet screaming for more. Wow!! That was great!....."
