Actually Tom adopted us in February 2000. We were feeding a few strays and he would show up in the morning and meow until there was food in the bowl. But unlike the wilder strays, he hung around and hung around. One day I noticed his ear was very bloody so I took him to the vet. He had a bad case of ear mites and had nearly torn his ear apart scratching at them. We got that taken care of as well as getting him fixed. He never left after that. He's mostly an outdoor cat. Loves people. He's the church cat. When people come to church (next door) he's always out begging for attention.

Tom loves boxes!

Brody wasn't real happy when he showed up. But the good thing was he's a guard cat and he chased the other cats out of our back yard. Those cats had been harassing Brody so now the backyard was safe for her to enjoy. And after awhile, when she thought no one was looking--she'd even play with Tom!

All the other cats look up toTom. Not all the cats get along, but everyone gets along with Tom. He's the big daddy. Actually I suspect he is the father of Freddy, Callie, Smokey & Ashley.
