This room was used by the Lanes as their bedroom, and also provided a space for Mrs. Lane to plan and prepare for the day's activities. As the wife of a plantation owner, she would have had many daily tasks to help keep the plantation running smoothly. Among her responsibilities were supervising the domestic slaves, organizing the production of textiles, maintaining the herb garden, and teaching her children to read and write.
