Round Malaysia Trip 2001 (Dec 14-24)
...I had to give Kota Bahru a miss this time; I'm not going to spend the rest of the day  finding my way around another big city....

...Although I've lost my watch whilst diving into the huge waves @ Kuantan, I knew it was around 1-2pm already and the entire Gerik Highway is some 260km to Ipoh; the next familiar town after the turnoff. My best bet would have to be Gerik...

...Having already travelled some 500km since I left Kuantan this morning, my senses seem to take a back seat as I approached the most scenic part of my journey. The sights along Gerik Highway never failed to bring me out of malaysia; somewhat reminded me of my driving adventure whilst in New Zealand... I regretted not stopping enough to savour the sights as my 2 concerns then were dinner and a bed to rest my sore butt...

...I was suppose to meet steven & dom at the Sungei Besi Petronas Station at 2300hrs. I kinda of know, after the slight jam at second link, I had to skip dinner...In the end, a bottle of red bull, a couple of passing showers and riding quite dangerously at speeds of 120-140km/h along the NorthSouth Highway,

...I seem to be the only foreigner along the streets of Gerik; after a full day of riding from kuantan, my senses are overworked and it sure feels wierd walking along the dimly litted streets of Gerik...I settled my dinner at the only chinese eatery there.

...the ride out of Gerik was SUPER! with wide and nicely paved roads and undulating valleys...it was a good 50km before the kampong roads took over with several narrow and windy stretches...

....Fathers' never failed to bring back memories...I always seem to bum into familiar faces whilst there...This time it was Lewis and Mike, both of whom I got acquinted from previous stays at fathers'. Apart from them, there were 2 Canadians, 2 Kiwis and 1 strange looking local that reminded me of Kitaro...looking forward to some company this weekend when Florence, Daniel, Jason and James arrive...

...It was drizzling this morning and thus foiled my plan to 'succumb' Gunung Brinchang via route 1 on all my four limbs...instead, i took the familiar walk to brinchang, which was 3km away if I took all the possible shortcuts...
