About the Video

This video was made using Kashmir3D, an amazing freeware program from Japan.  I downloaded SRTM elevation data for the appropriate region of France, superimposed Landsat imagery to get the right colors, and used the 3D rendering capabilities in Kashmir3D to generate the frames from the movie.  It’s possible to script the program so that the camera follows a predetermined route.  Originally I just had it follow the GPS track I recorded during the ride but that was a bit too jerky so I manually defined a series of start and end points for the camera.
