This
course will analyze the design and construction of several websites capable of
implementation with the advertised properties on home
equipment. Four text are indicated, the particular
contribution of each to this course elucidated in the following table.
(1266 and 3382 were introduced to Guild students in MS102.) Only the
first need actually be purchased now, Students are reminded that all
Wrox source materials are freely downloadable. So even if you might not
instantly purchase all of them, you may by successfully installing them want
to see why they ran: |

The
course itself does not teach programming, but is intended to
prompt constructive dialogue among those who do ("programmer
to programmer"). Like Scripture (and why not)
the implementations arose at different times and places: yet we
know these working out of only one conceptual model, and need to
consider in analysis how they are similar and why they are different.
Among our two primary texts (3986 and 107x), the first represents
the model richest in scripting integration and real-time
features Yet in each case a "bedrock" VB DLL
provides the objects from which scripting spins its windows. At the end
of the course they will be able to: |

In
this instructors experience, elementary course content is presented linearly
according to a single textbook, and progress is indicated by having done
everything by the end That approach is effectively inverted in master's
courses, where a single topic may be explored according to its presentation
in several different works. Where this presentation includes matters of
implementation, our principal accomplishment may occur at the beginning,
not the end of the course. Once we understand what the first application
installation is about, others using the same methods become rather simple. |

While
lesser configurations (PWS or Access) may have at first been indicated, in
order to guarantee their operation these projects are assembled here to run
on Windows 2000 Professional, SQL 7.0, and Enterprise Visual Studio 6.0:
which anyone close enough to a purchased MSDL is presumed to possess.
At the same time, both time and budget constraints preclude the elaboration
of topics specific to non-MS software. |
