The Night

click to listen

The night is black as a panther's coat
At least it seems that way behind closed eyes
No I don't open them much anymore
Cuz then I'd see, I'd see the teeth
Oh yes the night has teeth
Oh yes the night has teeth
That it sharpens on falling stars and quarter moons
Oh yes the night has teeth
Oh yes the night has teeth
That it sharpens on falling stars and quarter moons

I remember when my breath froze in the darkness
No one there to take me home
None that I could see to guide me
I guess when you feel alone, you're alone
And I was alone

Like an angel on my shoulder
Or the moonlight in the dark
Not before me and not behind
But with me all the way
And I don't know any answers
I don't know any answers
But the questions they remain and multiply
And I don't know any answers
No, I don't know any answers
But the questions they remain and multiply

Of course at the end there was a sunrise
There always is before another night....
