Evelyn Jean "Evie" Bedford (named after her mother and grandmother) was born an army brat at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, on September 18, 1953. Parents were Tom Bedford and Loretta Jean Reinning Bedford.
Evie was raised in Livonia, Michigan, where she graduated from Franklin High School in 1971. From there, Evie went on to attend Grand Valley State College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, majoring in music. Evie is a multi-instrumentalist who plays flute, piano and guitar, and also sings.
In 1974, Evie married Gordon Proulx, a fellow musician. Nathan Michael Proulx was born on August 3, 1977, and Sarah Rachelle Proulx was born April 10, 1980. Evie and Gordon divorced in 1989.
Evie currently lives in Ionia, Michigan, and is a middle school vocal music teacher and a devout Catholic, like her grandmother before her.
