| Greece is not an easy place to live in.The soil is not very good, thers not alot of mountains that make it hard to walk form one place to another, and there is never enough fresh water. On the other hand greece has alot of coastline. No part of Greece is more than about forty miles from the sea. Plus theres alot of small islands as well. So when people did come to live in greece, they were sailors, and the greeks spent alot of time sailing on the ocean. Combined of good sailing and poor farming tends to make greeks try to get a living from the sea. This got the greec interested in a religion called an oracale. Oracles are gods that speak to the people. Another important aspect of the greek enviorment is that it is very unstable. Greece is in the middle of a very active volcanic zone. There is a nervous feeling that could be a natural disaster at any time. The greek landscape does not look the same in the bronze age. There use to be alot of trees on the hillsides of greece, but they were cut down. greece almost barely have no bushes. |
