| Story: 8/10 In the future, there exists a race of Aliens called the Vadrigal, who make extraordinary fighters compete in blood sport events in order for the personal entertainment of these aliens. The Vadrigal do not allow fallen competitors to die, as they are resurrected to fight anew based on the powers of the aliens. These fighters have been taken from all walks of life; from other alien life forms, to prisoners that refuse to die, they all compete against each other. The number one fighter is a monk named Xaero who wishes only for a worthy opponent to take his life. I must say the story line for suck a good game serise could have been alot better. Graphics: 7/10 Quake III's framerate is amazing. The game moves at a constant 60 FPS, and suffers no loss in graphics. While the models are distinctly different from one one another, with everything from hulking cyborgs, slim supermodels, unabashed freaks of nature, and the guy from Doom, the models then selves are some what blocky and aren't up to the Dreamcast standards. But the levels are huge and do make up for the models looking under par. Sound: 9/10 The weapon sounds are good for the game, and fit the guns incredibly well, also with the character sounds and the music. The music although metal might not be to your taste, its nice to hear as you rip your opponents body open. Game Play / Replay Value: 8/10 The fact that the game play, despite how fun it is, can wear you out even online. The truth is it can't compare it between Unreal Tournament, just simple because after 30 or so minutes playing it loses ite fun. A side from that the games pace is fast and frantic, and you have to beat your opponents to the frag limit set at the beginning of the match using a variety of weapons, from the basic machine gun to the extremely powerful rail gun. The levels have plenty of twists and turns in them to keep the pace up, and power-ups are strewn throughout the levels to keep players in competition for dominance. The characters each have their own attributes, and can come in handy in different situations. Also the great thing is it runs lag free even on a 56k modem, but the game does come with broadband support. Overall: 8/10 A great FPS that every one should own, enough said. |
