| Welcome to Dreamcast Magic |
| Story: 10/10 A planet is dying, and the inhabitants must find a new planet to inhabit. A ship called the Pioneer 1 sets out and finds a planet called Ragol. As soon as it touches down, Pioneer 2 sets out to follow it. Right as they enter Ragol's orbit, a huge explosion goes off on the surface, and all contact with Pioneer 1 is lost. This is where you choose your character, and are ordered to go down to the surface and investigate. Graphics: 9/10 Every element in the game is all 3D rendered. The backgrounds set the perfect sci-fi role-playing theme, thanks to the power of the Dreamcast. Each character is rendered in great 3D and looks very good. Not only that but you can customize your characters hair (hair color), outfit colors, race, proportions, face and if you play as a android you can pick its head. The detail of the monsters is incredible and looks realistic (that is if monsters where real). The textures of this game are top notch. Sounds: 9/10 The music sets the mood well for each area of the game you may encounter, from the guild rooms, to the stores, and even the boss battles that you will encounter. The monsters come complete with their own sounds including grunts and roars and howls. Although there are no character voice-overs or vocal effects, it really doesn't detract one way or another from the gameplay. The music to the opening intro GC movie is just amazing and couldn't be any better. Controls: 10/10 Playing this game would be very hard if it wasn't for its lock-on battle, which makes playing the game easy and fun to play, concept is the best. Also you can assign various functions to the buttons as well as R-Shifted buttons to make things a lot easier in the heat of combat. Another thing that makes this game unique is that there is no pause system. Even while you're in the subscreen, game time keeps flowing, so keep moving! Game Play / Replay Value: 10/10 You can play entirely online, entirely offline, or both. Either way, it's not going to be an easy task. You start out at level one, and the monsters are really tough. You can take quests from the guild to earn extra money and increase your levels. As for Online play, you can have a team of up to four players go with you into any previously explored area to hunt monsters and money. New players can join and leave as they wish. With 3 versions of this game to play normal, hard and very hard that you can play online or offline. This game will give you so much reply value its sick, but in a good way. Online this game is great fun and so cool, you get a real sence of community. This game has so much depth, you can't really say how good the replay value is in this game you can play for months and it willn't get old. The drag is hackers which do things like creating impossably strong weapons and items to hacking your personal save file which can be a major blow to the fun after building a character, which takes a lot of time. Overall: 10/10 Any person who enjoys online gaming and/or RPGs would be crazy to miss the ship on this game! This game is amazing! Beware when you get this game you will soon get the PSO fever and can't put it down day and night. History: -The game's US server were taken offline in October 1, 2003. -Special events were available at different times of the year. From Easter (large eggs added to city) to Christmas (Christmas trees added to city) there were some really cool seasonly events that happened. Probably one of the most notable events was during the release of Sonic Adventure 2. In the city, the main Sonic characters were littered around the place, and the theme music to Sonic Adventure played as you were there. |
