Welcome to Dreamcast Magic
Note: these pictures are in low resolution and the game looks much better on a TV.
Story: 8/10 So many terrorists, so little time. The deadly deviants in Outtrigger don't stand a chance against Interforce, the International Counter Terrorism Special Forces. Not only are you among the elite-trained specialists, but you also have flame-throwers, photon torpedoes, and rocket launchers at your disposal. Assume the role of Jay, Alain, Lina, or Talon and discover their special skills. This fast-paced, 3D Dreamcast battle keeps your blood pumping as you blast through each unique level. Complete your mission and move onto a new battle arena -- a library, castle, abandoned train station, and more. Whether you enter the action at home with your friends or online against other gamers across the nation, Outtrigger will immerse you in the world of high crime and punishment. Graphics: 9/10 Outtrigger is Sega's first shot at a first-person shooter, and it's a good one. With online play, keyboard and mouse support what more could you ask for?! A beautiful 60 FPS game with realistic wall, floor, and human textures. Some of the levels are stunning, with splendidly done light effects that look good even compared to Alone in the Dark! The game is up to arcade quality sence it was a arcade game before it was ported over the Dreamcast also it includes all of the great arcade stages, plus exclusive Dreamcast stages. Outtrigger is a beautiful game. The levels, while fairly small, are filled with detailed textures and special effects. Weapon effects have been done better before in other games (mostly on PC), but are well-done here. Characters have great animations as well. Plus the characters look like they poped out of Dead or Alive 2 (which is good). And you can't for get the amazing sky affects which look so realistic! The game looks better then Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. Controls: 8/10 Control is an important issue in any first-person shooter, and fortunately Outtrigger scores big points here as well. You can use a controller alone, or a controller + mouse combination, or the keyboard + mouse combination we all know and love. You can't set up keys/buttons by yourself, but you have literally dozens of pre-made configs to choose from and you'll most likely find one you like. You also have the option of limited auto-aim, which is useful if you're stuck without a mouse. The Y-axis can be inverted. All in all, most of the control features you'd expect are here. Outtrigger is a fairly easy game to control, but can be hard to aim with the controller, thank god they added a auto-aim feature. Sound: 7/10 The game features Japanese-techno music that doesn't really fits the game. Explosions are crisp, gunshots are loud with good surround effects that allow you to pinpoint who is currently trying to kill you which is always good. But the must is just not interesting and is just flat out boring. Game Play / Replay Value: 8/10 A simple idea, just like Quake III arena, you run around the stage with a massive weapon blasting the hell out of people. It is a let down by the simple fact that the arenas are way too small, the arcade game is way to short and has the feel like the game was rushed out before being pushed to its max. But lets not go to far it is a fun game and just like Ooga Booga its more fun to play online or with friends (1-4 player game!) then play single player. Single player mode contains unlockable weapons, a character-edit option, and scenario-driven missions which all add to the games life. Over all this game's offline sections will keep you busy for a week or so but online play is what will keep you coming back. Overall: 8/10 Online or off, it's a blast. If you enjoy first-person shooters and are looking for something fresh and fast, Outtrigger is for you! History: -The game's server were taken offline soon after the shutdown of SegaNet in June 2003
