Extending Your Dreamcasts Life!
In this months article I will be discussing ways to make your Dreamcast life longer.  First your Dreamcast should be cleaned with a damp cloth when dust is visible to keep it from entering the Dreamcasts internal parts.  Keeping your Dreamcast plugged in all the times lets your Dreamcast keep your saved internet dial up info and the clocks time right because some games this very important because games like Seaman.  If you change the time you will kill him in the game, because it would be like not feeding him for days.  Plus keeping it unplugged will drain the Dreamcasts internal battery which keeps your saved ISP and time/date which will then have to be recharged, which can be done with 1 hour of playing your Dreamcast.

The problem is the batteries after a few years of use wear out and have to be changed and will only last a few hours.  Not using them unless you have to is key to not have to youre your Dreamcast up and change this battery.  Keeping your Dreamcast off the floor and not in a closed space is also important, the Dreamcast has built in temp reader and when the Dreamcast reaches the temperature of 90 degrees it will shut off on its own to keep damage from being inflicted and you will lose any progress you made in the game you were playing if you didn't save.  If you think your Dreamcast is going to over heat because of a hot room then buying an attackable fan to your Dreamcasts back is a cheap solution to this problem.  Also make sure you keep the dust bunnies away from the Dreamcast, dust can clog your fan and get your lens dirty, keeping you from enjoying you games.

Bottom line clean you Dreamcast, its not hard and can save your Dreamcast from getting broken.
