Whats Still Online with the Dreamcast?
In this months article I will discuss what games are still online for the Dreamcast.   Im sure you have seen the ads for PS2 and Xbox with online gaming, but lets not forget all the Dreamcast games you can play for free!  Though the last six months have seen Alien Front Online, Hundred Swords and Daytona USA all go offline, there are still a amazing amount of games still playable online for the Dreamcast, which are all free to play with the exception of Phantasy Star Online version 2.  Sega has even extended the online lifespan of SegaNet games, which were all supposed to go down December 31st 2002 by 6 months.  Those titles include: all online sports titles, Bomberman Online, and Ooga Booga.  Additionally, almost all non-SegaNet titles are still online as well.

Also games with online functions such as Ferrari F355, Jet Grind Radio, Metropolis Street Racer, SonicAdventure 1 & 2, and about 50 more are also still up and running.  And offer mini-online game websites, high scores pages, downloadable files, and other game extras.  So only Shenmue I, Star Wars: Episode I Racer, Rayman 2 and Floigan Bros. have been taken down or are up but no longer offer any features.  Here is a list of most Dreamcast games that offer online play for free:
Unreal Tournament
Quake III: Arena
Phantasy Star Online ver.1
Ooga Booga
Bomberman Online
Starlancer
The Next Tetris
Maximum Pool
Worms World Party
NFL 2K1
NFL 2K2
NBA 2K1
NBA 2K2
WSB 2K2
POD Speed Zone
Speed Devils Online
Chu Chu Rocket
and several more.
Given the low cost of these games and of Dreamcast accessories, now is definitely the best time to go online with your Dreamcast.  As long as you already have an ISP (not counting AOL, Prodigy, Compuserve) you can go online and see what you've been missing, See you online!

Update!  Not all the games listed are online anymore.
