November 9, 1941: New York's Tuffy Leemans runs for one TD and throws a 42-yard pass for another as the Giants beat Detroit 20-13.

Alphonse (Tuffy) Leemans played Fullback, Defensive Back, and Quaterback for the New York Giants from 1936-1943. Born November 12, 1912, Alphonse (Tuffy) Leemans attended Central High School in Superior, WI until a scout from the NFL found him and drafted him in the second round (18th overall).

New York Giant's "Tuffy" Leemans led the NFL rushers as a rookie, and made all NFL, 1936 and 1939. During his 7 year career, Leemans had 3142 yards rushing, 2324 yards passing, 442 yards receiving, 16 TD passes, and a 14-yard punt return average. Alphonse Leemans (#4) died January 19, 1979 at the age of 76.
