*Some Good God Damn CDs!!!*
I'm what one might call an "avid cd buyer". Actually I'm pretty much what Music World could very well call the foundation of the company!!! But when I say some good god damn cds, I'm really telling you what cds I own, and whether they're good or not. Which, they pretty much are. I buy cds all the time so it's easy for me to do something like this.
The Incubus Collection: S.C.I.E.N.C.E ~ This is Incubus' second album but first major label debut. But major label? Those are just words...It's all in all a really good album. Harder than their new material, and this album features DJ Lyfe and not DJ Kilmore (he had yet to join the band). But yet you can still get some of Incubus' 'different' songs like Summer Romance. Summer Romance is totally set apart from the rest of the album. It has a mellow jazz feel to it rather than a hard, rock/metal type sound. Make Yourself ~ The first Incubus album that I ever owned actually. I heard the song 'Drive' on the radio and I fell in love with the song. But then, well, I heard the rest of the album. Incubus was kind of my "gateway" into rock. I was never THAT into that kind of music until I heard this. Then...well time took it's little course...The album is awesome. It's one of my favourites to this day. It has some good harder songs like 'Make Yourself', and some really beautiful ones like 'I Miss You' which is a lot softer and more sentimental I think. There's even an Instrumental on this one (actually there are two instrumentals on S.C.I.E.N.C.E) it's a DJ battle you could say, it's called 'Battlestar Scralatchtica'. An album worth buying. Morning View ~ Well, this my friends is their most diverse stuff yet. That's what I love about them. They're not afraid to take risks and they make the music that they want to make. Not just what sells. It may have disappointed people looking for really hard stuff but there are some prety hard tracks, I really like 'Blood On The Ground' i'll tell ya, it's not a soft song. But one of the songs that impressed me most was 'Mexico'. It was so melodic, it just got to me. It's just Mike with his acoustic and Brandon with his voice. That's all they needed to make what I think might be the best song on the album. "Aqueous Transmission', that is the most diverse song off the entire album. Off any of their albums to be precise. It's so different and so great at the same time. It's really soothing too. Don't drive heavy machinery while listening to this one. As an Incubus fan, I think it's some of their best work yet. The Matthew Good Band Collection: Underdogs ~ MGB's second album, third if you count the EP. According to Matt it's a little better than 'Last Of The Guetto Astronauts' which he dubbed the biggest piece of crap. I thought that it was great. But everything he ever does is great. He's brilliant, a genius. How those Americans don't know who he is i'll never figure out. I could shove some talent up their ass and they wouldn't know it. They'd just take a shit and BAM there newest pop sensation, straight out of the toilet. You want proof of his brilliance? From which album? From this one, just listen to 'Apparitions'. That is one of the best songs I've ever heard. 'Indestructable' that's antoher one. 'Prime Time Deliverance' that's another. The list goes on....A good album, all his/their (who knows anymore?) work is amazing. Beautiful Midnight ~ This album is, i don't know, i'm elated to just listen to it. It's awesome. It's more personal lyrics too. 'Jenni's Song' is about his old girlfriend. It's really a very interesting story, kind of sad too. You should read it. 'Strange Days' one of the 'top 5 hits' from Beautiful Midnight is really a great song. 'Suburbia' is what some have called a 'haunting' song. It's one of those songs that gets to me. It really did, and I love it. 'Hello Time Bomb' what can I say about that? It was the first MGB song that I ever liked, probably ever heard even and I was absolutely obsessed with it. I'd listened to it so many times, and I never once got sick of it. I still like it. It's a really good song. The album is a piece of art. It's made by a very talented writer, singer, songwriter, even director, and an all in all brilliant musician. Loser Anthems B-Sides and Rarities ~ For a 7 song EP, 6 song really because one of the tracks isn't a song, this is an addictive little drug is what it is. I listen to those 6 songs over an ove and over and over...honestly, it's like getting hits of smack or something. You just want more of it, you know? 'Flashdance 2' now that song has some really thought provoking lyrics. "You can sell the sad the world tonight/ and they would take it/ and they would ruin you/ well her hate is prettier in person/ prettier than worse and/ prettier than me/ you could sell the sad the world tonight" And the song that made me cry, the saddest song that i've ever heard. 'Flight Recorder From Viking 7'. It featured Holly Mcnarland to sing the sad but beautiful chorus. To think of the state he was in when he wrote that.
