Lemieux Leaves Game With a Strained Hip Muscle Saturday October 27, 2001 8:10 PM TORONTO (AP) - Mario Lemieux left Pittsburgh's game against Toronto on Saturday night with a strained hip muscle. Lemieux, who has already missed two games this season with the injury, left after the first period with Toronto leading 2-0 on a pair of Mats Sundin goals. The Penguins' star missed Friday's practice and was listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs. The injury hampers Lemieux's ability to accelerate and change directions. Lemieux said earlier this season he wouldn't play back-to-back games, but on Friday he said he hoped to play against the Maple Leafs and against Florida on Sunday. Lemieux has just one goal and six assists this season.
