NHL-Lemieux Gets His 1,500th Point And Jagr His 1,00th December 31, 2000 2:03 am EST PITTSBURGH (Reuters) - In his second game back from retirement, Mario Lemieux got his 1,500th career point and set up Jaromir Jagr's 1,00th as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-3 Saturday. Lemieux assisted on a pair of goals by Jagr. The first was Jagr's 1,000th point and the second his own 1,500th. The 10th player in NHL history to reach 1,500 points, Lemieux capped the scoring with an empty-netter and finished with a goal and three assists. "It's good, especially against a good team, one of the best teams in the league," said Lemieux. "I like what I see so far," he added. "It's great to play with Jagr once again. I had a chance three or four years ago to play with him and Ron Francis. Jagr is having fun. Yes, after three or four minutes my legs go south, but I'm OK." Wednesday, the Hall of Famer and Penguins' owner had a goal and two assists during a stirring 5-0 win over Toronto in his first game since 1997. Prospering from Lemieux's return, Jagr scored the tying and go-ahead goals. He also assisted on Lemieux's, giving him four goals and three assists in the last two games. "Mario's been playing great," said Jagr. "It looks like he didn't take a break." The Penguins are 2-0 with Lemieux in the lineup and have three straight victories for the first time in more than six weeks.
