Penguins Acquire Veteran Bergevin From Blues December 28, 2000 4:58 pm EST PITTSBURGH (Reuters) - The Pittsburgh Penguins Thursday acquired veteran defenseman Marc Bergevin from the St. Louis Blues. The Penguins sent defenseman Dan Trebil to the Blues for Bergevin and assigned center Toby Petersen and defenseman Michal Rozsival to Wilkes/Barre-Scranton. Bergevin, 35, had a career-best plus-27 rating last season, ranking eighth in the league. But with rookie Bryce Salvador moving into the Blues' defensive rotation, Bergevin became expendable and played in just two games. In his 17th NHL season, Bergevin will join his seventh team. He had been with the Blues since 1996-97, playing in 298 games and recording five goals and 20 assists with 317 penalty minutes. Bergevin has 32 goals and 123 assists in 994 NHL games with Chicago, the New York Islanders, Hartford, Tampa Bay, Detroit and St. Louis. Trebil, 26, was acquired by the Penguins from the New York Islanders in mid-November for a ninth-round pick in the 2001 draft. He played in 16 games with Pittsburgh and was a minus-1. Petersen, 22, had two goals and six assists in 12 games with the Penguins this season. His demotion was expected with the return of Hall of Fame center Mario Lemieux. Rozsival, 22, had a goal and four assists with a plus-3 rating in 30 games with the Penguins. Last season, as a rookie, he had four goals and 17 assists with a plus-11 rating.
