Penguins ship RW Barnaby to Lightning for C Wayne Primeau TAMPA BAY (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh Penguins right wing Matthew Barnaby, who is second in the NHL in penalty minutes, Thursday was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning for center Wayne Primeau. Barnaby, who has recorded a goal, four assists and 168 penalty minutes in 47 games this season, is among the league's toughest players. He joins his third team, having spent time with Buffalo and Pittsburgh. In 446 games, Barnaby has 62 goals, 97 assists and 1,647 penalty minutes. His best season came in 1996-97, when he had 19 goals, 43 points and a league-leading 335 penalty minutes for the Sabres. "I am ecstatic to be joining the Tampa Bay Lightning organization," Barnaby said. "They have a very talented group of younger players and I look forward to working with guys like (Vincent) Lecavalier and a good friend in Brian Holzinger. Tampa Bay is committed to building a winning tradition and I very much want to be a part of that." The 24-year-old Primeau joins one of the hottest teams in the league. A teammate of Barnaby's in Buffalo, Primeau has two goals and 13 assists in 47 games this season. "We like Wayne Primeau a great deal, but we feel that Matthew Barnaby brings something to the table we don't have and need badly," Lightning general manager Rick Dudley said. "We think Matthew can contribute in a lot of areas including leadership and toughness, and he's shown in the past he can contribute offensively as well."
