Bruins Samsonov to Replace Jagr at All-Star Game February 2, 2001 2:50 pm EST DENVER (Reuters) - Sunday's NHL All-Star Game may turn into a party for Mario Lemieux, but his Pittsburgh Penguins teammate Jaromir Jagr will not be a part of the festivities. Jagr, the NHL scoring champion each of the last three years, suffered a concussion in Wednesday night's game against Philadelphia and will not play for the World All-Star Team. Boston Bruins left wing Sergei Samsonov was named to replace Jagr, who was elected as a starting right wing. Jagr experienced dizziness after he was checked by Philadelphia rookie Todd Fedoruk in the first period of Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Flyers. The injury was later diagnosed as a mild concussion. The 22-year-old Samsonov, a Russian native, will make his first All-Star appearance. He has 21 goals and 27 assists in 53 games. Samsonov joins teammates Jason Allison and Bill Guerin -- both members of the North American Team -- in Sunday's game at The Pepsi Center, the home arena of the Colorado Avalanche.
