Who we are
I came from a Japanese-American family in San Jose, California. In 1981, during my senior year at San Jose State university, I heard the gospel for the first time. A few months later, I received Christ as my Savior. Afterwards I joined SJSU CCC and learned what it meant to be a Christian; the fun, caring environment with teaching from the Bible propelled my growth.
In 1982, I began volunteer work, teaching English to Cambodian refugees at my church. It was there that the Lord showed me that He wanted me for full-time work. I applied with CCC, intending on using my teaching skills in a third-world country. I told God, "I will go anywhere for you--
except Japan." However, God had other plans. I arrived in Tokyo in May of 1985.
We helped pioneer a new ministry in Nagoya, Japan from 1990. I served as the Nagoya Director from 1990 until October of 2006, then officially handed off the directorship to present Nagoya team leader, Seiji Ishii.
I am now pioneering ministry in the eastern part of Nagoya, which started in 2006. Our challenge and goal is to establish spiritual movements in this area too, which will help to reach more students in all of the Aichi region.
I am first and foremost a wife and mother to 4 wonderful children, Aaron, Aimee, Joel and Nathan.

I am hostess to ministry activities in our home and I also do volunteer work for Joel and Nathan's school, the International Christian Academy of Nagoya (ICAN), as well as at Nagoya International School, where Aaron and Aimee attend.

For 7 years I've led English evangelistic Bible studies for mothers of kindergarten friends. And I have also been involved in a women's Bible study for English speaking Christians -- primarily non-Japanese. Currently I am the leader of the English Bible Study which meets twice a month.
