Simba
Nala

King of the Pride Lands and protective father, Simba is stillthe most complex character of the movie. Now he's a great lion like his fatherin TLK. He has learned the great lesson Mufasa taught him and wants his daughter Kiara to learn it as well.

Queen of the Pride Lands and Kiara's mother, Nala is alwaysbeside Simba when he's worried. She tries to suggest the right choices, with agreat influence on him. She's a reassuring mother for Kiara and let her be independent more than Simba. She still has her cheerful nature, but has understood her important role in the Circle of Life.

Young Kovu
Young Kiara
Daughter of Simba and Nala, princess of the Pride Lands. YoungKiara reminds her parents of themselves, when they were little cubs. She wants to explorethe Lands by herself and not to be always controlled by Daddy. She also has toface Timon and Pumbaa as baby-sitters and she gets rid of them easily. Kiaragoes to the Outlands and finds Kovu, a new friend. Zira's son, Kovu isn't Scar's son, but the heir chosen by Scar to become king. He has a brother, Nuka, and a sister, Vitani. He meets Kiara and with her he has a little adventure with some crocodiles. He's just as"troublemaker" as Simba was, but also very brave.
Mufasa
Adult Kiara and Kovu
The king has returned. He's always present in the important moments of the life and guides Simba from the sky. The animals of the Pride Lands still respect and love him. He suggests Rafiki the plan of "Upendi", which perfectly works. The movie ends with his words, like in TLK: "Well done, son. We are one".

When Kiara and Kovu meet again as adult they've deeply changed. Kiara still wants to be independent, but now she's able to understand what Simba meant with "We are one".

Rafiki
Timon and Pumbaa
The old baboon of the Pride Lands presents Kiara to the animals of the reign. He has an important role in the movie, as much as in TLK. Heappears in several scenes and is very often at Pride Rock. Kiara introduces himto Kovu as a "friend of the family". He helps Kiara and Kovu to find "Upendi" as in Mufasa's plan.
Timon and Pumbaa have remained in the Pride Lands with Simba. They've a new role, now: babysitting Kiara. They try to stand by her always, butthey lose her track every time. Timon and Pumbaa still have their comical rolein the movie, even in the most dramatic moments they cause us to laugh.
Vitani
Zira

Kovu's elder sister, but younger than Nuka, Vitani is totally devoted to her mother and to her plans. She considers Kovu as the rightful king and she's not lacking in humor, especially towards Nuka. But she really cares about him, since she always helps her brother to get out of trouble. Vitani is the first lioness to understand that Simba's right.

Scar's follower, as what appears in the movie, and exiled after Scar's death, Zira wants to take revenge on Simba. She trains her son Kovu to kill the king, pretending to join his pride.

Zazu
Nuka

Zira's eldest son, Nuka's a complex character. He tries desperately to get his mother's love, but reveals not to be a very intelligent lion. He dies trying to kill Simba, catching his only chance to demonstrate he deserves to be Scar's heir.

He introduces the royal family in the "He Lives in You" sequence and bows to the new king. Like in TLK, he's Simba's adviser, but with less appearances in the movie. Defensor of Mufasa's law, he now trusts Simba andapproves of his decisions.
