"God" and "self-injury" are not two words we often hear together but like every other issue, God knows what it is and he understands us. For some of us its hard to grasp the whole concept of God knowing about self-injury, and understanding it and our feelings, but even in biblical times people were hurting themselves deliberately, in Mark ch.5.v 1-20, A man lived in a cave and would cut himself with stones, the best part about this is Jesus heals him! And if you allow Him to He can heal you too! God and Jesus are not all about authority and punishment, God is also about love and despite what many of us think, nothing can stop Jesus from loving us! - even if you hurt yourself (if you don't believe me read it for yourself in Romans ch. 9 V.35-39) Although we have Gods unconditional love we have to be aware that out bodies are temples for Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and we should keep them holy at all times, 1 Corinthians ch.6. V.18 -19 tells us this, and makes it clear that our bodies were given to us by God. Don't forget that God will forgive us for self-injuring, He isn't happy about us hurting ourselves but He will forgive us for if we ask. I know that at times it's hard to believe that things can get better, that there is hope, and I know how often I feel that life is pointless and meaningless and feel like throwing everything away, if you feel like this, here's a verse that's helped me during these times: 1 Corinthians ch. 10.v 13b "God is faithful, He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear" One of the most important things to remember is that we don't need to punish ourselves especially not by hurting ourselves, Jesus already paid the price for us, for whatever reason we feel we need to self-injure, Jesus felt everything we feel, all the hurt all the pain, when we hurt, Jesus hurts, when we cry, Jesus cries with us.He was hurt, He was cut and beat, He bled on the cross, all of this for us - for YOU!
