Stories
These stories are works of fanfiction.  Characters and setting are the creation and property  of J. R. R. Tolkien and his estate.  They are presented here purely for the enjoyment of folks like me who just can't get enough of Middle Earth and its people.
Another Way of Leaving
What if Frodo had not been offered passage to the Undying Lands?  Would he have considered a more desperate  way out of his pain?  Starts sad, ends in hope.
Frodo's Reverie
Well, yeah, okay -- it's a poem.  But it's a long poem, of Frodo's memories, and especially  his memories of Sam.
Sam's Rose

The Shaping of Samwise
When Frodo must carry the Ring to Mordor, Sam will not let him go alone.  But such loyalty has to begin somewhere, and grow through small, homely experiences before the great test comes.
Midnight at Bag End
On a moonlit night of his last Spring in Middle Earth, Frodo sits in the Bag End garden  remembering Lothlorien and considering his choices.
The  Drunkard  of  Bag  End
The Ring is gone, but its malevolent voice still echoes in Frodo's mind.  Can he drown it out -- with brandy?
Following the Other Wizard:   a Tale of Healing
In  "Another Way of Leaving" Radagast takes Frodo away from the Shire, in search of healing.  But can he  truly heal, without leaving Middle Earth?   And if he follows the wizard to Mordor, can he bear what he will find there?
Beyond the Havens
At the end of a long life, Sam follows Frodo over the Sea.  He has never forgotten his Master, but after sixty years in the Undying Lands,  will Frodo remember him?
Long Home of Mortals
