Annual General Meeting

The meeting was chaired by Greg Fitzjames and opened at 6:45pm.
President's report
Greg Fitzjames thanked everybody for turning up.
Greg informed the meeting that the Grand Final day was well attended and the snooker was of a high standard.
He made an apology for being unable to attend as he was in hospital at the time.
He thanked Mascot for hosting the day and congratulated them on winning the Grand Final in 2005.
Greg also thanked Bruce Hockey of Jimac Trophies for their continued support
Minutes from the AGM of 2005 were adopted. Moved G Zordan, Seconded M Solomon.
Secretary's report
Steve Kirk advised last years comp went very smoothly with the exception of a few seeding errors.
He thanked the Club Captains for their prompt sending of the result faxes.
Steve advised that the website will again be updated this season with results but this year due to work committments it won't be as extensive as in the past.

Treasurer's report
Glen Zordan produced a financial statement which can be seen here (Link to be inserted shortly).
Bottom line is we have a balance of $122.13
Glen pointed out that the current bank account is charging $5 a month. The account will be moved to another bank asap.

Election of New Committee
President : Greg Fitzjames - Nominated M Anderson, Seconded M Solomon.
Secretary : Steve Kirk - Nominated G Zordan, Seconded G Fitzjames.
Treasurer : Glen Zordan - Nominated M Solomon, Seconded M Anderson.
Steve Kirk and Glen Zordan advised that this would be their last year on the committee - New people are required to step forward next year!
# Teams for this year are Bronte, Clovelly, Coogee Randwick, Maroubra Seals, Mascot A , Mascot B and Yarra Bay - seven teams.
Malabar withdrew, Coogee and Maroubra Seals only entering one team each.
# Competition will start Monday 13th March 2006
# Finals format Will decided at the next meeting - However it would appear it will be TOP 4 - 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 to get our grand finalists
General Business
# Sam Cushieri asked what benefits if any the ESSL gained from being a member of the NSWBA?
After much discussion it was decided not to continue with the membership on financial grounds as the $100 could not be justified.
# Sam Cushieri asked if the East West Challenge was going a head this year?
Steve Kirk advise it was and he would shortly get in contact with Smithfield RSL - the 2005 Western Districts champions to organise the event.
# Graham Wilson wanted clarification on what happens when a team turns up with only 4 players - which position is the forfeit?
After much discussion the following was included in the RULES 2006...
"In the event a player forfeits before the draw is made the forfeited position shall be position 5."
Graham was thanked that this was brought to the boards attention - They thought they had it covered in the Rules already.
# Graham Wilson suggested we change the format of the finals night to include a "plate" event to keep the lower teams interested in the competition.
Steve Kirk advised with only 7 confirmed teams a top five would no longer work.
After much discussion it was decided if we have 8 teams after round 16 the league will divide into two - 1-4 and 5-8, then 1 v 4, 2 v 3 to determine the Grand Final and 5 v 8 , 6 v 7 to decide the plate event.
However if we only have 7 teams in the competition the finals format will be carried over until the next meeting and discussed once more.
# Glen Zordan asked what is happening with this year's Grand Final arrangements as at the last Grand Final night there was some discussion about moving the day to Monday night?
Glen was advised Grand Final arrangements will be discussed at the next meeting after more is known about the teams concerned, if we have a plate event etc.
Next meeting Tuesday May 23th � 6.30pm Maroubra Seals RSL to discuss Champion of Champion day arrangements, the Final series, Grand Final day host nominations and payment of team fees ($90) .
