# Teams for this year are Bronte, Clovelly, Coogee Randwick A, Coogee Randwick B, Malabar, Maroubra Seals A,
Maroubra Seals B, Mascot A , Mascot B and Yarra Bay - Ten teams

# Competition will start Monday 28th February 2005

# Finals format will be the same as last year - Top 5.

# Yarra Bay, Mascot A and Mascot B were asked to organise with visiting captains an early start due to the fact they only have 2 tables.

General Business

# Steve Kirk brought it to the meetings attention that the ESSL had been approached by the NSWSBA in regard to affiliation.
Benefits from joining the Assoc would be extra exposure for our competition, a quarterly newsletter, discount membership for individual players who also wished to join the Associations membership to enter NSW competitions etc and a possible end of season series of games against other affiliated league champions.
The cost of the proposal is $100 per year.
The motion to join was passed. Moved : S Kirk, Seconded : M Anderson.

# Steve Kirk stated that the current cost of entry to the Jock McLean Shield stood at $80 per team.
He moved to cover extra costs (such as joining the NSWBSA) that the entry fee be raised to $100 per team.
This motion failed as it was thought the jump of $20 was excessive since we still had $207 available from last years competition. The motion was amended to read $90 per team, a rise of $10 per team which was passed.
Moved : S Kirk, Seconded P Mangioni.

# Steve Kirk brought it to the meetings attention that as secretary for the past 5 years he could see no value in the current weekly seedings ruling which is currently in place. Basically it serves no purpose and makes the secretarys job each week more time consuming by having to check them each week. He moved that the seedings ruling be dropped
This Motion FAILED after no one wished to second the motion.

# Mick Anderson raised the point that if all clubs used the same pizza outlet when organising Monday night suppers it may be possible to obtain a discount due to the volume of sales.
It was pointed out to him that not all clubs put on pizza, clubs such as Maroubra Seals have internal caterers, and that a local pizza shop in Coogee was unlikely to deliver to the Malabar or Yarra Bay area.
Mick was given the phone number of Clovellys pizza shop Big Franks in the hope Coogee Randwick can organise their own local deal.

# Mick Anderson raised the point that maybe the ESSL committee should try and organise some kind of sponsorship deal for the Jock McLean competition.
It was pointed out to him that some clubs (such as Clovelly) had their own sponsorship deals (as in Pabs furniture and JIMAC) so sponsorship is already in place for those that want to try and obtain it on their own clubs behalf.
All clubs were advised to find their own sponsors if they so wished with the blessing of the ESSL committee.

# Sam Cusherci raised the point of markers and asked what can we do to ensure that home clubs supply them for each game. Sam was advised that over the years various attempts had been made to do this, but in the end it really is up to the home club to do their best to supply them.
Mal Stewart advised that some players preferred not to use markers.
Steve Kirk advised that it is better to have no marker rather than a drunk one.
It was moved to stress to home captains the importance to try and organise markers for all games.
If it is not possible to find a marker, both captains are to confer in the event of disputes.

# Sam Cusherci wanted to know what attempts had been made this year to enrol more teams into the competition. Sam mentioned that Bexley or St George Leagues might be interested in joining up to the ESSL.
It was pointed out to him that over the years various attempts to entice new blood had been made Matraville actually pulled out on the eve of the competition starting in Feb 2000.
Steve Kirk mentioned that we might be causing ourselves problems by enrolling Bexley as they would also play in the Southern Leagues and he was unsure if they were affiliated with the NSWBSA or not.
It was decided to revisit this issue at a later date after affiliation with the NSWBSA had been achieved and more information about other clubs and leagues is available.

# Alan Goodwin raised the point that the 6.45pm start time changed last year is not working as clubs are still not turning up on time. He moved that the time be put back to the 7pm start.
It was pointed out to him that even if the games did not start precisely at 6.45pm at least the teams are arriving before 7pm and the games are starting earlier.
The motion to change the times back to 7pm failed but Captains are asked to try and arrive early so games can commence at 6:45pm.

# Peter Mangioni mentioned that he believes the Jock McLean Shield is a great competition, which is very well run. He wished the elected committee all the best for the year.

Next meeting Wednesday June 1st 6.30pm Clovelly RSL to discuss Champion of Champion arrangements, Grand Final day host nominations, payment of team fees ($90) and updates on NSWBSA affiliation.

Meeting closed 7.21pm
