LOVE FROM ABOVE

One of the men running for President of the United States mentioned the theory of trickle down economics. This prompted me to find out more about this theory. The explanation that I found "the economical theory that financial and other benefits received by big businesses gradually spread to benefit the rest of society," didn't make a lot of sense to me. For one thing, there are a lot more at the bottom of the barrel than at the top floating around. When something trickles, it flows slowly in a thin stream. I thought about the homeless in the United States that I try to help feed at Thanksgiving, and I had to ask myself what has trickled down to them.
What has trickled down is God's love. He has touched my heart with love and thanksgiving to the point that neither I nor my children can enjoy a day of feasting knowing that we haven't done our part to feed the hungry. Often, we have an unexpected guest at our table, invited by one of the children. "They were going to be alone today. I didn't think you'd mind, Mom."
I wouldn't have it any other way. God's love is so big that it is more like a big waterfall cascading down the side of a mountain than a thin stream, and once it is let go through you, it splashes out and down to touch many people. When I think of His love for me and the enormity of it, my love will always seem inadequate in comparison.
Jn3:16:For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
