| Jamboree - A History | ||||||||
| Mom Zeralla Haake, along with others, saw a need for a state-wide activity for the Job's Daughters of Wisconsin. The first Jamboree was held in 1959. In 1960, Jamboree was incorporated and it continues to remain independent of the Grand Guardian Council. It has its own Board of Directors, who in turn elect their officers. | ||||||||
| At Jamboree in the 1960's, girls had the privilege of meeting the Grand Council officers. The Bethel officers learned a great deal about the ritualistic work through roundtable discussions with the Grand officers. The craft workshop was a wonderful place to get ideas for table decorations, favors, etc. The Moneymaking Workshop "coined" ideas for the Bethel Treasurers. Many new songs were learned at the song-fest. The Variety Show revealed fine talent. The Sunday Service inspired girls to seek a finer way of life. | ||||||||
| Many things have changed at Jamboree over the years. Grand Bethel and the Miss Wisconsin pageant have been afforded the privilege of sharing the weekend with all the girls. Attendance peaked in the 1970's, saw a slight decline afterwards, but has been on the rise again over the past few years. | ||||||||
| Jamboree continues to be a weekend focused on the Bethel members - it is the event everyone looks forward to. The excitement, fun and friendships prevail. | ||||||||
