Jobee's Cookie

by Jobee

A little chibi girl with short purple hair and glasses was walking down a sidewalk made of crayon. She squinted in the bright sunlight as it shined off of the windows and stuff. Then, she found one of the places that chibis like best, the bakery. Perfect! She thought as she came in through the jingling door and smelled the cookies, bread and pastries.

"Hello Jobee," the nice old woman behind the counter smiled, "What would you like today?" Jobee looked at all the treats and thought hard. Suddenly, a glowing lightbulb appeared over her round, little head. Her gray eyes focused in on a steaming hot, soft cookie with the chocolate chips melting on top. It was beautiful.

"That one please!" Jobee pointed at the cookie and drooled.

"Alright. Be careful, it's still hot," the woman took out the cookie, put it on a napkin, and gave it to Jobee. Jobee pulled two quarters from her pocket and traded them for the cookie, then sat at one of the booths in front of the bakery window. The steam from the cookie fogged up her glasses. So Jobee decided to wait a few minutes and pulled out her sketchbook and pencil to draw. All was quiet and well until Jobee heard a slurp. Happy, the old woman's dog, had sat up at the table and eaten her cookie in two bites. The huge yellow lab sat in the other booth bench, licking his chops.

"WAAAAHHH! Mean doggie, you took my cookie!" Jobee stood on the table and yelled, her eyes welling up with tears.

"Happy, did you take Jobee's cookie? You're not supposed to eat other people's treats! You're not supposed to eat chocolate either!" the old woman scolded. Then, she came to Jobee with a fresh new cookie, right from the oven. "Here, you go Jobee. Just let it sit a minute because it's still hot."

"Okay, thank you," Jobee relaxed, sat back down, and went back to her drawing with a new cookie. Suddenly, she heard another slurp. Happy, the old woman's dog, had sat up at the table and eaten her cookie in two bites. The dog looked back at Jobee innocently.

"WAAAAHHH! The mean doggie did it again!" Jobee wailed, tears streaming down her face.

"Happy, I told you not to do that!" the old woman pulled the dog off the bench and gave Jobee another warm cookie. "Just wait a second for that one to cool and you can eat it, okay?" Jobee nodded. Then, she hid the cookie, put something else on the table, and went back to drawing. The eager dog hopped up on the bench and grabbed the thing that was where the cookie used to be.

"YIPE YIPE!" it howled and dropped the frozen pretzel. It spat and sneezed and went for a drink of water. Jobee grinned and ate her cookie.
